A Partners Meet of the SDTT-SRI Partners was organized from 22-24 February 2011 at Dehradun, Uttarakhand. 71 participants representing the Government, civil society and NGOs as well as eminent persons from the development sector had participated in this three day event. Organized by Livolink Foundation, Bhubaneswar (that hosts the SRI Secretariat) and People’s Science Institute, Dehradun – the objective of organizing this meet was to share experiences on SRI promotion in India as well as contextual review of current activities under the SDTT supported SRI Programme.
PowerPoint presentations, group discussions and brain-storming were the mode of deliberations. Short-films on SRI promotion and application of SRI principles to other crops were also presented. NGO partners also exhibited a wide array of teaching and learning materials on SRI promotion – such as training manuals, pamphlets, booklets, posters and even farm implements and machineries for information dissemination –which was held in a small exhibition that co-currently took place with the in-house discussions. Apart from in-house discussions and the SRI exhibition during the first two days, the final day was devoted exclusively for a field exposure visit to the System of Wheat Intensification (SWI) areas of Bhadrabad Block in Haridwar District, Uttarakhand.
